Dallas, TX - The Texas Tycoons have announced that the team will be playing in the World Basketball Association this season. The current #4 ranked team in the American Basketball Association will be continuing their season after the ABA has concluded on into the WBA's Spring-Summer schedule. The Tycoons have confirmed that they will continue to call Dallas, Texas' Mountain View College as their home venue for both leagues.

The year round program the Tycoons have layed out will feature the competition for two league championships. The ABA champion is crowned in March and the WBA season opens training camps in April so the team sees a smooth transition. At the conclusion of the WBA season is the NBA summer leagues and then the marketing and training begins all over again leading up to next fall for the 2007-2008 ABA season. The Tycoons would like to position themselves as the model for the development of their players and market.

Owner of the Dallas based Texas Tycoons, Charles Key, stated "I am excited about this new opportunity presented by the WBA. I look forward to presenting the professional ball players to the basketball world".

Head Coach and Director of Basketball Operations of the Texas Tycoons is Chris Terrell. Terrell is also the Director of Basketball Operations for the WBA. When asked about the continuation of the season with the WBA, Terrell said "Our goals on the basketball court are simple, compete for and win an ABA then WBA championship. The two rings and developing players for their pursuit of opportunities in the NBA is very important to me and this organization. We think we have some of the best fans in the country. Dallas knows it's sports well and loves winners. This organization is a proven winner and continuing that relationship with our fans as a part of a year round program makes a lot of sense for us on the basketball and business sides."

In addition to the Tycoons, Mayas-USA will be entering the WBA as an expansion team this season in Texas. The successful LNBP franchise in Mexico's top division will develop their star players in their off season. Mayas-USA is currently reviewing an agreement with the University of Texas-Tyler and an announcement regarding their plans for East Texas is expected shortly.

The WBA schedule concludes in the first week of July where the 2007 WBA champion will be crowned. The NBA summer leagues commense at the same time of year and the WBA has integrated it's league with NBA personnel, such as the Atlanta Hawks Harold Ellis who as Head Coach and General Manager of the Rome Gladiators won the last two WBA championships. The WBA has been successful in aiding 60 of it's former players on to opportunities with NBA teams via the NBA summer leagues and individual team workouts, four of those players going on to sign NBA contracts and many others doing very well in the D-League or Overseas.

WBA League President Leroy McMath stated "The WBA is committed to reasonable expansion with organizations that can demonstrate their abilites to operate at an extremely high level. Having been approached by several fall season based minor league teams, it was important to the WBA that the Texas Tycoons have a proven track record of being successful in their market as a business entity and on the basketball court. We are very fortunate to welcome team owner Charles Key, General Manager Mike Senters to the WBA family. I know Chris (Terrell) knows what it takes to be successful and he will continue to be a strong part of our management structure with the WBA and in addition, lead his successful team onto the court this spring."

The 2007 WBA season opens with Mayas-USA playing at the Texas Tycoons Mountain View College, Friday April 27th at 7:30pm.
