Gwinnett Majic goes for a third WBA Title while giving back to the community

Buford GA – The Bold declaration of Gwinnett Majics owner Brandon Williams stated that the team will attempt to win its third straight crown in the next season of the WBA. With the return of players like BJ Pucket (MVP last year) the team will remain a solid front runner for a third title run. Aside from BJ Pucket other Majic players who will be back to defend their crown are Javon Randolph, Marcus Brown, Adrian Borders, Reggie Anderson ll, Albert Jackson, Frank Davis, Patrick Shapeka and Mike Sloan, who all have been a vital factor in the Majics tough victories.

Brandon Williams is in his 3rd year as majority owner along with head coach David Akin are adding more staff this off season. The Majic also added David Olsen as an owner and director of basketball operations and Carla Whitley as director of promotions and sponsorships. Carla will also be responsible for adding a cheer-leading squad. Some of their new sponsors will be Slomins,Details by Design, Optimum Health, Rick Tanner’s Grille and Café’ and Choi Kwang-do, Costco, LA Fitness

The Gwinnett Majic was purchased in the spring of 2009 by Brandon Williams. The Majic are 25-4 and have won back to back WBA Championships along with multiple awards under the direction of owner/GM Williams. The organization also trains hundreds of boys and girls in the Majic Academy and hosts an annual clinic at the Lawrenceville Boys and Girls Club. They also have added football and soccer clinics under the name Southeast Elite starting spring break 2011.

Coach Williams, owner of the Majic states "I started these clinics as a way to teach our youth lessons that go beyond a game. We want to teach each of them how even at a young age the importance of working together as a team. Letting the children see that self esteem partnered with great communication skills is key to success in all avenues. Having Gwinnett Majic players and coaches at the clinics gets the kids attention because who better to learn from than role models who have experienced what they are going through and conquered it.” The combination of the Majic players at the camps are designed to teach fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship and team concepts which emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, staying in school, and saying no to drugs and alcohol. These core values help enhance a sense of self- confidence. To make sure this is a positive learning experience. When I see my players sign contracts overseas or parents tell me that their 5 year old son prayed before bed that he attended a Majic basketball camp is the kind of fuel you need to drive a successful minor league organization and be a positive role model in our community.
